Ladyboy tenors

Evensong, the second of the three advertised as part of the West End Festival, went pretty well and there was a fairly large congregation. Music mostly by Herbert Howells, so it was a wee bit shouty at times. The responses were sung particularly well by Rev DMcF and it's nice to see that someone who is a really nice guy and who was very supportive of the cathedral when the "home" clergy didn't seem interested in Evensong is being allowed to continue on the rota. And we are very lucky then to have two clergy (three if KS is allowed to continue) who are so capable at singing.

A memorable moment in the Collegium Regale Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis when GS, standing next to me, sang the soprano entry of the Gloria, and it turned out that both AT and AF, the two tenors over on Decani did exactly the same thing at the same time! At least there's one tenor who can read music then, eh boys! Rest assured, this will be cast up to them for a while yet!

Looking forward to next week's Evensong, the last in the festival, when it's music by Purcell, accompanied by strings. Should be good. Then we've got one more Sunday and we're all off for the summer break. It's come quickly this year it seems, but I'm looking forward to it. I don't know whether it's the break from the choir I'm looking forward to, or just wishing that this particular period in my life was over. Probably the latter.

Looking forward also to tomorrow, since I'm hoping to get replies to the emails I sent at the weekend asking whether various flats were cat-friendly. I'm looking forward to it, but a bit scared too in case it turns out to be difficult to get somewhere suitable.
